I thought this scenario, somewhat modified from what Joe Klein writes about, where more Democrats vote for this than Republicans but they do have a majority in the House, is what to hope for but think of it as Fantasy Island. The added part not written about here is that Boehner realizes he can't remain as Speaker for long so openly opposes the right wing of his party for their destructiveness. It's too much to hope for, but it would be the correct thing to do.
