What if this announcement preceded Romer's and Orszag's?

Wouldn't it be funny if Krugman got offered Summers' job? I thought the line by Summers that he'd lose his tenure at Harvard was pretty funny. Somebody is falling on his sword here, but I'm not sure who it is.
